Architect Your Own Media Company

The online tools we have welcomed into our world constantly change, this is challenging to keep up with and every time you feel like you have it all figured out the Google gods pull the rug out from underneath you again. What I have learned over the years is that the one thing we can rely on is that social media, search, PR, and the related tools will continue to change. I try my best to focus on what does not change.

Build your own Media Company with Bricks of Content

Every day the online gods make changes to social media or Google… We have no control over this and we have no choice but to be online marketing our businesses so what is an overwhelmed entrepreneur to do… What can we control????? The content we write!

WRITE GREAT CONTENT!!!!!

Everything we post is “published” online, it is available forever to be found and lead our ideal clients, the media and randomly cool people back to us.  So every social media post, every blog post, every comment has meaning, even the silly stuff. Here are 8 strategies to make sure you are making the most out of your online publishing opportunities:

  1. ALWAYS write great, original content – be inspired by great content written by others, but never copy!
  2. Think about who you are speaking to when you write and tailor the conversation appropriately. Are you speaking to a potential client, a mentor, a joint venture partner.
  3. It is a conversation, treat your content as such – as people navigate through your website and other online “offices” of your media company, be inviting and offer great conversation by way of great content. Always offer them the opportunity to comment and join your conversation or you are just sitting in front of your computer talking to yourself.
  4. Know your keywords and build them into your content in a conversational way – these are the words people will type into the search bar in Google and other search engines, by knowing these words you are getting inside the head of the people that are looking for you and marketing directly to them. POWERFUL!
  5. Be mindful of what you share, just because someone asks it does not mean that you need to share. Have a list of guidelines that you follow, perhaps even have a page on your website with an outline of what your partnership policies are so that people can read or be directed to before they ask.
  6. Publish for your own media company – YOUR blog and website – this is probably the most important place you can publish your original content. Social media posts, guest blogging and PR opportunities are great vehicles for driving traffic back to your “media company” but when people get there you want to win them over with tons of great content that speaks directly to them. This will make them come back for more and that is exactly what you want.
  7. Welcome new visitors, everyone loves to be acknowledged so welcome new visitors to your social media sites and always respond to comments on your blog.
  8. Engage, ask questions, offer solutions. This is why they are visiting, they believe you have the answers they seek. Overdeliver and never let them down.

Incorporate these strategies as policy in your “Media Company” and you cannot lose, your visitors will be back and I bet they bring their friends too!
