Rebecca Liston | The Real 50 over 50

About me

Rebecca Liston is a seasoned entrepreneur, advisor, and storyteller who has spent over two decades helping people and organizations grow in ways that are both meaningful and sustainable.

As co-founder of Las Peregrinas, a boutique advisory firm serving small and mid-sized businesses, Rebecca supports entrepreneurs and teams as they navigate growth, change, and the everyday realities of leadership. Known for her deep listening and out-of-the-box thinking, she has a gift for quickly seeing someone’s vision — and the steps to operationalize it — while never losing sight of the people and purpose that make the work matter.

Her approach draws inspiration from Agile business practices and Generative Leadership, blending strategic clarity with creative iteration and heartfelt collaboration. She believes leadership isn’t a title, but a calling — one rooted in curiosity, courage, and care.

Before her work in business advisory, Rebecca trained as a healthcare practitioner in the Western medical model and went on to found a Centre for Integrative Health Care. That early experience — bridging science and soul — continues to shape her approach to business, life, and leadership today.

Beyond her work with Las Peregrinas, Rebecca creates and leads rituals and ceremonies through her practice at Living Love Stories, officiating weddings and celebrations of life. She writes, mentors, and still insists she has at least one novel up her sleeve.

What do you do and why do you do it?

I help business owners bring their bigger futures — the ones they’re seeing for their work and for themselves — to life. Through Las Peregrinas, the advisory firm I co-founded, I walk alongside entrepreneurs and their teams as they navigate growth and change, helping them align how they work with what matters most.

Why do I do it? Because I passionately believe that small and mid-sized businesses are the backbone of our communities. And when the people leading them are grounded in meaning and care, that ripple extends far beyond the walls of their offices or storefronts.

I’ve seen what happens when business owners pursue their bigger futures with intention — not chasing growth for growth’s sake, but shaping work that feels deeply aligned with who they are and what they value. That’s the difference I want to make: Helping people lead from meaning, bring humanity back into business, and build futures that serve not only themselves, but everyone their work touches.

What changed for you after age 50?

I got hotter! (Literally LOL! Hot flashes are a bit of a beast!) Beyond the physical changes, I would say that I feel more “settled.” I have a firmer understanding of who I am and my work and place in the world. I feel more grounded, more steady, more sure, even as life continues to swirl and whirl around me.

What would you tell the 20 or 30-year-old YOU?

I would tell her that the best truly is yet to come, and that she can and will not only recover from the hard things that are on the horizon for her, but she will emerge stronger and more determined than ever.

What do you think you’ll tell yourself in retrospect at the end of your life?

“You done good, kid.” (This is something my dad always said, and the poor grammar is used on purpose!)

What impact do you think increased visibility can have on your business?

Increased visibility allows the right people to find us — those who share our belief that business can be both profitable and profoundly human. It opens doors to new collaborations, deeper conversations, and greater impact within the communities we serve.

It also models what’s possible for other women and entrepreneurs in their 50s — that this season of life can be one of expansion, creativity, and even more meaningful contribution.

Who or what inspires you and why?

I’m endlessly inspired by the quiet grit and resilience of women — the ones who keep showing up, day after day, balancing the unseen weight of care, responsibility, and hope. To move through the world with that much heart — to raise families, lead teams, nurture communities, and still hold a vision for something bigger — that’s extraordinary to me.
