Julie Noonan | The Real 50 over 50

About me

Julie Noonan is a seasoned Organizational Change Strategist, Executive Coach, and Professional Speaker who helps leaders strengthen critical thinking and decision-making to successfully navigate complex transformations.

With over 30 years of experience across industries—including consulting, Fortune 500 corporations, small businesses, and government—Julie offers insightful analysis on leadership, workplace dynamics, and the ripple effects of change.

Julie’s expertise lies in decoding organizational patterns, anticipating unintended consequences, and equipping leaders with the tools to drive impactful, lasting change. A pragmatic and methodology-agnostic advisor, she believes the best solutions emerge from within organizations themselves.

As the founder of both a change management consulting firm and a coaching practice for senior women leaders, Julie brings a dual perspective: advising businesses on effective change strategies while coaching leaders through personal and professional transformations.

Julie also lives and works full-time from her RV, embracing a nomadic lifestyle while running her businesses remotely. She is passionate about helping others explore location-independent careers and leadership in a digital world.

What do you do and why do you do it?

I help organizations and people deal well with change. Most people view change negatively, but I encourage looking at change as

  1. a sign of growth,
  2. inevitable and non-negotiable, and
  3. fun.

Why I do it is because I believe women, in particular, struggle with self-doubt generally and specifically in times of change and we don’t have to.

What changed for you after age 50?

Got laid off – twice – once at 55 and once at 57 during COVID. Started my own business. Sold my house/possessions and moved into my RV so I could work remotely and still see the country and visit friends and family when I wanted to, not try to squeeze in those visits in a sanctioned vacation. Kids went to college, got jobs, one got married, and had a baby. My dad and step-dad passed. My mom developed alzheimer’s and lived for a year with my sister, with me spending one week/month with her to give my sister a break. Made the heart-wrenching choice to put her in a safe memory care unit. She no longer knows anyone, and I don’t get to see her as often as I’d like.

What would you tell the 20 or 30-year-old YOU?

Have more confidence in yourself and calm the hell down~

What do you think you’ll tell yourself in retrospect at the end of your life?

You were blessed.

What impact do you think increased visibility can have on your business?

My businesses can keep women’s issues front and center when we are being attacked on all sides.

Who or what inspires you and why?

I’m inspired by every woman who thinks for herself and lifts other women up. When I was going through my early career years, women were playing like men in the workforce – competitive, cut-throat, etc. The ones that played like the boys were the ones that got ahead. Those of us who didn’t want to play like the boys were forced to in order to make career progress. I admire women who learned to play like the boys, tried it, and then decided to play like women instead.
