About me
Janet Barrett is an organizational psychologist and the Founder and CEO of Cerebral Health, a company focused on slaying the stigma around mental health and helping individuals learn to thrive. Janet’s book, Stop The Break, takes readers on a journey to help them learn how to be proactive in their mental health. Now she shares that passion with audiences, helping them learn how to stop being Emotional SherpasSM and start being truly resilient!
What do you do and why do you do it?
I write and speak about proactive mental health. More specifically, I help overwhelmed women learn how to reduce the stress they carry around so they can thrive in life! It’s important to me because I don’t want anyone to live like I did for 50 years, and if I can help one individual enjoy life a little bit more, it will be worth it!
What changed for you after age 50?
Everything! My marriage ended, my body changed, I went back to school, I got another Master’s degree, I wrote a book, and have a new career!
What would you tell the 20 or 30-year-old YOU?
It doesn’t have to be this way. You don’t have to carry the emotional weight around with you!
What do you think you’ll tell yourself in retrospect at the end of your life?
You did OK.
What impact do you think increased visibility can have on your business?
Expand my ability to share the message of real resilience versus being an Emotional Sherpa!
Who or what inspires you and why?
My children. Because I’ve been able to share what I’ve learned on my journey and help them learn how to deal with their emotions in a more productive way. It has really emphasized that my approach works, and can work for any age.
