Chantal Traub | The Real 50 over 50

About me

Chantal Traub is a board-certified health and wellness coach, seasoned NYC-based birth doula, menopause coach, and women’s health expert. With over 20 years of experience, she has guided women through major life transitions—from childbirth to perimenopause.

Early in her practice, Chantal identified a critical gap in childbirth education: preparation for the pivotal pushing stage of labor. Recognizing this essential topic was often overlooked, she developed her signature Pushing Power method, equipping expectant mothers with the tools and confidence to navigate childbirth with greater ease and reduced trauma. Through her classes, consultations, and doula services, she has helped thousands of women embrace a more informed and empowered birthing experience.

A sought-after global speaker and educator, Chantal partners with the Polyvagal Institute, Global Pelvic Health Alliance, and My Pelvic Floor Muscles to teach about birth, menopause, and the nervous system. Chantal is a two-time published co-author. Her book, The Pelvic Floor: Everything You Needed to Know Sooner, became an Amazon bestseller in its category, and contributed a chapter of creating Safety in Birth to the newly published book, Somatic-Oriented Therapies: Embodiment, Trauma, and Polyvagal Perspectives. She also runs a private coaching practice supporting women through birth, postpartum, and perimenopause.

Chantal lives in Brooklyn, NY, with her husband and their two teenagers. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, cold-water dips, and creating meaningful travel experiences with family and friends.

What do you do and why do you do it?

I help women navigate major life transitions—birth, postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause—through the lens of the nervous system. I’m a menopause coach, doula, educator, and lifelong advocate for honoring the wisdom of the body.

I do this work because I’ve lived the overwhelm, the sleepless nights, the confusion of not knowing what was happening in my own body. And I know how powerful it is to feel seen, supported, and understood in those moments.

Too often, women are left to figure it all out alone—especially during transitions that impact our hormones, nervous system, identity, and relationships. I want to change that. I want women to know that what they’re feeling is real, that their bodies aren’t broken, and that it’s possible to move from survival to resilience.

This work is about restoring trust—trust in our bodies, in our rhythms, and in our ability to heal. That’s the difference I hope to make.

What changed for you after age 50?

I started having many injuries on top of each other until I learned about the muscular skeletal syndrome of menopause. My sleep was a mess until I healed my nervous system and optimized sleep hygiene. I sleep better now than I’ve ever slept in my life and I suffered insomnia since I was a kid.

What would you tell the 20 or 30-year-old YOU?

You don’t have to keep pushing through. Rest is not a reward—it’s your birth right. Your body is not betraying you; it’s speaking to you. And those symptoms you keep overriding? They’re your nervous system waving a flag, not failing you.

What do you think you’ll tell yourself in retrospect at the end of your life?

You turned your own healing into a path for others. That was your real work. And it was enough.

What impact do you think increased visibility can have on your business?

People would get to know who I am and my approach and will hopefully reach out for some midlife or sleep support.

Who or what inspires you and why?

Stephen Porges, he is kind, generous and accessible.
