About me
Michele Folan is the host of the Asking for a Friend Podcast. As a Sales Director in the health industry, coach, mom, wife, and self-professed life-long learner, Michele gets your questions answered by respected experts in their fields, and she speaks to women just like you, who are stepping out of their comfort zones to make their lives and the lives of others more fulfilling.
Asking for a Friend dives deep into health, wellness, career, relationships, and everything in between. Let’s celebrate these amazing years of our lives with honesty, wisdom, and lots of humor because no one said we have to go quietly into this chapter.
What do you do and why do you do it?
I find that women have so many questions about their health, wellness, and relationships but don’t always know where to turn for answers or have been gaslighted into thinking that we must tolerate the status quo.
How are we preparing to live our best lives for the next 30 years and beyond?
We have an opportunity to define what that looks like, but we need to get started now, and it’s ok to prioritize YOU! There are so many great things about being in midlife. We have experience, wisdom, and so much to share, so let’s not go quietly into this chapter.
What changed for you after age 50?
I got married to my second husband right before I turned 50. I finally felt as though I could be my authentic self, and that translated into all aspects of my life. I no longer wished to be defined by someone else’s expectations and try to be someone that I am not.
What would you tell the 20 or 30-year-old YOU?
Stand up for yourself. You are no one’s doormat. You have value and should expect to be treated as you treat others. Don’t be complacent.
What do you think you’ll tell yourself in retrospect at the end of your life?
You finally figured it out. You know what really matters.
What impact do you think increased visibility can have on your business?
I want to reach more women! After some of my shows, the feedback tells me that the topics resonate with listeners, even if we are discussing things that may be uncomfortable to hear. I want to motivate women to put themselves first. They have paid their dues.
Who or what inspires you and why?
I have made some big changes in my own health and wellness journey. Feeling good and having more energy keeps me going down this path.
Something else I’d like to share
I am the very lucky mom of two amazing adult daughters and 4 stepchildren. I live with my husband and two Westie pups in Cincinnati, OH.
