The Real 50 over 50 | Laurie Thibert

About me

Laurie Thibert is a business leader, relationship specialist, and founder of Aligned Insights Matter™, where she helps organizations develop high-trust, high-performing teams. Her leadership philosophy was shaped not only in boardrooms but also in 2008 while leading a volunteer trip to Ghana, where she met a young boy whose parents had died. Soon, she began the journey of becoming his mom. Their journey together strengthened her belief that high-quality relationships are built when the relational fabric is strengthened.

Laurie’s expertise has been distilled into a bestselling book called The CATR Theory™: The 4 Legs of Successful Personal and Professional Relationships. It’s NOT Rocket Science! (CATR: pronounced “cater”), where she offers a clear, human-centered framework for understanding what truly makes relationships thrive—and how to repair them when cracks begin to form.

Today, Laurie guides executives and teams to strengthen relationships, fostering trust and mutual respect—proving that when leaders lead with both head and heart, performance follows. The carryover improves personal relationships as well. Laurie is committed to helping our world thrive in vibrant and connected ways.

What changed for you after age 50?

I became a free bird! (New term instead of empty-nester. Not lacking, instead abundant.) When going through a corporate restructure, my son said, “Mom, I need your voice over here. People need you.” He is a couples coach. So I chose to write the book about the simple recipe for healthy relationships – how to create them, identify the cracks, and repair them in real time without blame, shame, or guilt. It also is the recipe for bridging the divides our society is facing.

What would you tell the 20 or 30-year-old YOU?

Always be courageous, and make love visible at every opportunity.

What do you think you’ll tell yourself in retrospect at the end of your life?

You, the answer was always to make love visible.

What impact do you think increased visibility can have on your business?

It would have a profound impact on the world, and as a result, my business would grow exponentially.

Who or what inspires you and why?

My son. His courage and clarity on his life journey is so inspiring with all that he has overcome.
